Welcome to UX Entry!

Hello! Welcome to UX Entry. Let me tell you a little about the goals for this website, and little about myself (at the same time, because as you’ll see, it’s all related).

UX Designers doing wire-framing and research

How I got started in UX Design

I’m fortunate, because from a very young age, I knew what I wanted to do. I remember being 13 years old and awe-struck about the blossoming World Wide Web, or as we know it today, the internet. It was 2001, and I was spending all of my free time learning HTML, CSS, and playing with miscellaneous graphic design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Paint, and even Powerpoint. All the while, I knew that I wanted to work in technology or some type, and I really enjoyed creating. I recall even then feeling lucky, because many of my friends weren’t sure what they were going to do after high school.

So much has changed since then, both on the internet, and in my life. However the passion and drive has never gone away, and I’ve learned so much on my journey. This is site is where I will be sharing that to hopefully help you find as much fulfillment as I have.

Enough reminiscing! If you want to learn more about me, check out my About Page.

Who I want to help

There are three groups of people I want to help with this site:

  1. Those who aren’t sure whether they want to be a UX Designer, but are interested.
  2. Those who are actively trying to become a UX designer and are just getting started.
  3. Those very early in their career as a UX Designer, who have perhaps achieved limited success (a project or two), or maybe they’ve completed one of the many design schools, but haven’t landed their first job or found success running a freelance practice or agency quite yet.

If you have a somewhat established career as a UX designer or a freelance practice which is making good income, the information on this site may not be for you. However as I’ve founded throughout my career, it’s always good to go back to the basics, so I hope you find something helpful as well.

How I want to help aspiring UX designers

There are so many topics to cover, but some of the main categories you will find are:

  1. Learning to be a designer: Whether self-taught, attending a design academy, or learning a traditional education in college — You’ll find guides, tips, tricks, and resources to help learn to be a UX designer
  2. Getting your first job or getting your first client: Perhaps you want to land your first full-time job, or maybe get your first paying freelance client — You’ll find the same set of guides and resources to get going.
  3. How to be a great designer: UX Process, guides to research, reviews and guides for design software — It’ll all be covered, from the high-level to the nitty-gritty.
  4. So much more…

This is what I think will be most helpful for aspiring UX designers, but I’d like to hear from you. Connect on Twitter, or send me a message — I want to know what you want me to talk about!
